Zwelethu Mthethwa is the artist’s long-awaited first comprehensive monograph, providing an overview of his work to-date and featuring the stunning portraits that have brought him international acclaim.
The book, published by the Aperture Foundation in New York, has been launched in South Africa at iArt Gallery in collaboration with the Book Lounge, who will be stocking the book at their premises in Roeland Street, Cape Town. To coincide with the launch of this important publication, mural-size photographs by the artist are being exhibited for the first time in South Africa. The book will also be available at iArt Gallery throughout the duration of the exhibition.
The show will be open to the public from 23 April - 15 May at iArt Gallery, 71 Loop Street..
The funds generated by the sale of the ten works on exhibition will contribute to the formation of a scholarship, co-supervised by Zwelethu Mthethwa and a leading South African University.
